Below are pictures of Athena and Sofia, two pups who I raised with Ole, my son. Ole now has Athena down in New Mexico, while Sofia has become an Alaskan dog.

The Story of Sofia and Athena

It all started out with two pups.

We named them Sofia and Athena.

Their mom was a red and white husky with blue eyes. Wait a minute! What did we have here?

Wolf hybrids?

We wondered. Seems their mom had run away in the Sandia Mountains east of Albuquerque when she was in heat. There are plenty of wolf hybrid dogs up there.

Athena finds her tail interesting. This was slow-motion tail-chasing. They sped up as they got older. Did you know that coyotes chase their tails before going out on a hunt? This helps them get geared up for the chase.

I'm not sure if this is Athena or Sofia. They look so much the same that we had to put a purple collar on Athena and a red one on Sofia so we could tell them apart.
